The Fallen One, Three

Evangeline looked startled when Virgil approached, not recognizing him until he was standing before her. She wanted to speak, to ask what had happened and how he had managed this, but she could not. Words failed her, the world seeming to move around her at a speed she wasn’t mentally able to keep up with.
He took her hand and was about to speak before Death butted in. His voice left his lips but the words were not his own.
“We have to go, now. There’s no time to waste.”
“But I can run–”
“No, you can’t use your powers!”

Virgil regained control when Evangeline was hanging secure on his back, arms looped around his neck and resting on his shoulders. It was a bit awkward, but it would work for now. They had to move and quickly. Werewolves in their true forms could run much faster than any human could hope to. Their speed even rivaled a vampire’s.
Of course, Death’s influence told him that they needn’t worry about Eckhard and Olivia following. It seemed they ran for a different reason entirely–not to escape Eckhard, but something or perhaps, someone, else.
Death’s anxiety was enough for Virgil to propel himself forward as fast as he could possibly manage. He had no intent on facing whatever it was that Death wished so desperately to be away from.

There sat a seven-headed Beast, ten horns raised from his head
Symbolic Woman sits on his throne
but hatred strips her and leaves her naked
The Beast and the Harlot.
The city dressed in jewels and gold, fine linen, Myrrh and pearls
Her plagues will come all at once as her mourners watch her burn
Destroyed in an hour.
The day has come for all us sinners,
If you’re not a servant you’ll be struck to the ground.
Flee the burning, greedy city,
Looking back on her to see there’s nothin’ around.
Avenged Sevenfold, “Beast and Harlot”

EVIL EVIL to leave it like this!!
I was whipping through this so fast, after the first scene. That first scene. Has Valerie really given up that much? Yes Nicolas did expect more. An expectation that seems to be rooted in a memory, a physical reaction, rather than who and what he just coupled with.
I adore Ylva. I just adore her. Rethinking my opinion of Reyes who seems oblivious and yeah, wants to stay alive but COME ON. And she took down Eckhard? For the moment.
And how is he there? Is it the place instead of the person?
Eva hurtling through time and space and doing the clumsy thing was totally charming! And, was this the first time she listened? Don’t do it, grab hold of Virgil? Or was it because it was Virgil.
This piece was like a derby race! Love it!
Have to add some more. This whole piece, apart from the first scene, which hung quietly and perfectly in a separate space, moved at warp speed. The shots, the text, all of it, took off FAST and never stopped. It was breathtaking! I kept thinking, this is really moving, hang on here! From Eva moving out of the fountain right on to the end, the sense of speed was phenomenal.

Oh dear, Nicolas is the clingy type. To be fair though, its almost like he does expect there to be a bit of old Valerie to still be in there somewhere, the bit worth him putting up with the taunts and the anguish of watching how she is with Christian, and despite all her coldness, I would suspect there might be a little still there, if she didn’t care, she wouldn’t be so desperate for no one to know. But then I could be reading too much into that.
Ylva kicks ass. It was more than a pleasure to see Eckhard go down so easily considering all the other close calls he has had before. Obviously she has a few extra tricks up here sleeve.
Run Virgil, run!

Wow. So powerful. Very interesting.
I was not expecting Nicolas to seem so… vulnerable, for lack of a better word. I almost feel sorry for him. Almost. He did try to kill Valerie (and no, I’m not providing a page’s worth of innuendo ;) ). I honestly worry more for her. I know she’s strong, but I guess I still think of her as the powerful, but incredibly stupid girl of the first half of WoS.
Finally, Eckhard gets some kind of butt-kicking. Interesting that you went with the default werewolf tone, but it works. They’d better run. I don’t know what they’re running from, but in these stories, it’s rarely something good.

Whoa, whoa, WHOA. Did Olivia just call Eckhard “father”?!?!? As in, like, she’s his DAUGHTER? Christian’s sister, Evangeline’s aunt kinda thing????
Freaking hell :o.
Poor Nicolas. He and Valerie finally get some, err… intimacy and a sort of significant milestone, and then up comes The Wall… /sigh.

Heh Val is so sassy, cutting it off before he can try to get attached. Probably smarter in the long run.
LOL Eva is rediscovering herself, clumsily but still… this could be a good thing, or bad. I mean if she redescovers herself does she become more of a beacon? Easier to find? That kind of thing.. just wondering, dont expect answers.. I mean this is you Mao *giggles*
*squeals* see?! Beacon! *restrains from gushing over Eckhard* oh.wow. *blinks* he’s… smiling.. i think this is the first time i’ve ever been frightened by him..
Father?! O.o She’s my Eckhard’s daughter? I thought he just had the two sons… oh the hussy is so much like her father. *giggles* I like her.. wait, she .. spell? Nice!
Oy Eckhard! *cringes* How nice.. Reyes has an admirer.. heh
I am SO torn! My Eckhard is being man handled by Ylva.. and i adore them both.
That’s right, run cuz her Daddy’s on his way!
Love the photo effects, everything was so well done Mao!

Seeing Nicolas being all clingy is slightly amusing, but I feel sorry for Valeria and how much she has had to change in order to survive. My favourite line was when Reyes told Olivia that he’d snap off her hands and make her wear them as earrings. I like it when the werewolves descend into the more animalistic side of their personalities. I do wonder what Death so desperately wants to get Evangeline away from. It makes me smile when I think about how much Virgil has given up to protect Evangeline, they have a really strong bond :)

Oh, Mao. So much awesome. My head is spinning.
Valerie had to nip it in the bud and that was probably the nicest way of doing it. Doesn’t help when Nicholas has feelings for her though. The damage is done.
Ylva is a complete badass.

Mao, you are so terrible, leaving us with that cliffhanger!
Also E. Black is totally right, Ylva is pure badassery. She’s my favorite.

Hey Mao,
I am back and caught up finally. I just want to say that your writing gets better and better with every story. I am loving AOL.
Eva – what a powerful being but seeing what her parents have turned into you shouldn’t expect less. I love the connection that she has with Virgil. But doesn’t death realize that she is going to have to face Christian one day.
Nic/Val – I am so glad they finally released some of that tension. Val is damaged goods however and Nicholas well it is a little too late.
Ylva – is one bad beast.
Eckhard – Christian may be closer than you think.

This update moved like a freight train, I felt a little sorry for Nicolas, but only a little. Apparently he wanted more than ‘just sex’. But Valerie’s reaction at his parting touch means perhaps she was affected more than she said verbally.
I gotta agree with Olivia, I WANT Reyes. So…bestial! Woof. Even though he can make earrings out of hands. Whoa.
And great shot of showing Eva’s speed.
I don’t understand though, what or who, took Eck down, was it death? Or am I addled brained? “It stole away his core abilities and left him with dulled senses.”
Help me. LOL
Great installment. And I can’t wait to learn more about Ylva.

I do feel bad for Nicolas despite all the horrible things he has done. I think he wants to make amends and yet that would be a bit difficult given he speared Valerie with a sword. But I always thought there was something between them, really a love/hate relationship.
Is Death urging Virgil and Eva away because of her own desire to not run into Christian? Would he sense Death if she was in the room? And Eva isn’t supposed to run…is that because he can track her that way? Or was the need to get away fast for some other reason?
Ylva really is becoming a most interesting beastie…full of surprises and really growing on me. I am still wondering however what she knows that no one else does.

Why!!! :D why did you end it there!!!!
Anywho… this chapter was even better than the last two.. .if that is even possible!!!
“Life” that was the answer Valerie gave Nicolas when he asked what had happened to her…
and so it is true… “Life” has changed her a lot…
but everyone has changed… even Nicolas… they all chose their way… Anyway… looks like Nicolas was expecting peaches and cream after he and Valerie had sex… but oh so much had happened between those two.. it wont be erased or forgotten in one day with a kiss or just sex…
Olivia is ugly…. like she has the biggest nose I have ever seen in a sim… but she is a interesting character… lol her comment about wanting Reyes was so funny… lol She reminded me a little of Melissande!!
Ylva is another interesting character, so brute and bestial and I never know what to expect with her… I still can’t figure out why she is doing ‘this’ (helping Val and Virgil) At first I thought she was on Eckhard’s side… but now I don’t know… :D
Maybe she is aiming to get to Christian too…
wonderful chapter.. but I agree with SB, it was soo very evil of you to end it there!!! :D lol
Great job Mao, and it looks like I’m all caught up wiht AoL…
It will take me a little longer to get to your Little bits of Fiction but I will for sure get there as soon as I can!!!
It was an incredible read as always!!!!

All caught up! Now I have to wait for the next installment, like everyone else!
Ha, what was Nicolas expecting after sex with Valerie? Cuddles? I had to feel kind of bad for him though – he looked so wounded. But I mean…he also brought this on himself, I guess so I can’t feel completely sympathetic towards him.
“Life”. That was such a sad answer, though I wonder if Valerie has changed too much to even realise how much she’s lost? Does she even care or is she just past that now?
When I was looking at the picture of Evangeline when she was coming towards Ylva and Reyes, I was thinking “goodness, she’s not very graceful!”, so the fact that you added the part about her stumbling and being so clumsy was great.
And cliffhanger! I really want to know what’s up with Ylva. She’s awesome but quite the enigma.
